Carla Barbosa, LMSW

Hi there!

My name is Carla, and I’m really glad you found your way here. Nice to e-meet you!
Here are a few things that will likely make us a really good fit:
You are either a millennial or a Gen-Xer (early 30s to late 50s) and you are a part of the LGBTQ+ and/or BIPOC community. You might have figured out, as an adult, after years of feeling like a puzzle piece in the wrong box, that you are autistic, gifted, or have ADHD. You are navigating major life transitions, such as a breakup, a career change, coming out as queer/non-binary/trans person, trying to finally stop masking, or adjusting to a new life as an immigrant in the USA.

If that sounds like you, welcome! You’re in the right place.
My approach is warm, affirming, and grounded in cultural sensitivity. I specialize in helping folks explore their identities, build coping strategies for anxiety, depression, and burnout, and find clarity and self-compassion in the middle of big life changes.

I believe therapy is about creating space for you to discover who you are underneath all the layers of expectation, survival, and self-doubt. I’ll show up as a compassionate witness to your story, holding space for both your pain and your growth.

A bit about me: I have a Master’s in Health Studies and a Master’s in Social Work. I’m originally from Brazil and spent 14 years in Canada before settling in Rochester, a city I’ve grown to love deeply. As a queer, Latina immigrant married to an autistic partner, I understand firsthand many of the experiences my clients bring to therapy, and I connect with them from a place of empathy, authenticity, and curiosity.

If you’re ready to feel seen, supported, and understood, let’s connect. I’d be honoured to walk alongside you on your journey.
